To Madeleine it was just another fun visit with the grandparents in Pasadena, but for Maddie's Dad it was an emotional weekend filled with pride and memories. Memories of Madeleine's Uncle Dan, when he was smaller and newer than his niece is now. And pride at the accomplishment of his little brother Danny, not only graduating on the honor roll from a rigorous college preparatory high school, but also pride at Danny being invited to attend one of the nation's top acting programs at NYU this fall.
The weekend was filled with the usual pool time, which Maddie always enjoys, and the gathering of family and friends, which Maddie delights in, plus there was the pomp and circumstance of graduation events. The baccalaureate, at which the Keisers, the grad, and the grandparents enjoyed a wonderful outdoor meal at Danny's school, followed by a slide-show of Danny and his classmates as they progressed from 7th to 12th grade together. Then the graduation itself, which was held at the grand Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Finally, there was the post-graduation reception, at which the families of all the grads were witness to and recipients of the joyful and excited embraces of their newly emancipated teens, celebrating their combined accomplishment, and anticipating the great individual things to come, as they start their new lives outside of high school in the fall.
For Uncle Danny, the fall with bring a very exciting new life in lower Manhattan, where he'll be sharing a dorm room with a high school friend who was also admitted to NYU's exclusive acting program. Together, I'm sure they'll be taking a big bite out of the Big Apple.
