Mommy Matriculates

Madeleine is extremely proud of her Mommy. Not only does her Mommy take exceptionally good care of her, giving all the love, milk, naps, hugs, and everything else a little baby needs, but she also had time to squeeze in the completion of a masters thesis!

On Saturday May 27th, Mommy Keiser walked across the stage at San Francisco State University, and received her Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree. Maddie, her Dad, and Grandma T-Bird were all proudly cheering as the graduate accepted her diploma.

The only question that remains now for the Keisers on the MPH front, aside from what exactly will make the public healthy, is whether a PhD is in their future. At this point, all involved hope the answer is no, or at least not for a while.

PS- For the record, the MPH grad did want it mentioned that she still has to sit through 2 classes in the fall before she officially graduates. But don't let that stop you from congratulating her. The REALLY HUGE part is over - her masters thesis is done, and she did it with a brand new baby in tow. No small feat, and one that we should all use to embarrass her with our praise.

"The Mommy's" First Day

This was "The Mommy's" first Mother's Day, and she spent it with her Mom, "The Daddy," and little Madeleine. The foursome spent a lovely afternoon in Maddie's (unusually) spacious San Francisco yard, enjoying a Mother's Day High Tea. The meal was complete with scones, cucumber & salmon & watercress finger sandwiches (with cut-off crusts), clotted cream, and of course ... Tea.

Father's Day, which is just around the corner, promises to be a much less prissy affair. Although "The Daddy" is hoping to enjoy another round of finger sandwiches - they're just so tasty and cute.

Do The Wave

Madeleine has made a big leap into the world of communication, by starting to wave. As can be seen in this recently uploaded movie, Maddie enjoys waving to her Nana, and she also enjoys waving goodbye to her Daddy as he heads off to work in the mornings (and her Daddy enjoys it very much too). However, Maddie isn't very discriminating, and will wave at just about anyone and everything. She waves at strangers in the supermarket, passing cars, and sometimes even herself. But hey, it's still pretty damn cute.
